Lighting for Improved Automotive Design

If you’re an automotive enthusiast with a keen appreciation for exceptional design, than you’ve probably already noticed the challenges inherent in keeping that high quality design noticeable in the dark.  Solid automobile design often lacks the acknowledgement at some level that most vehicles are driven in the dark at some point in time, and even the most impressively built cars, trucks, and SUVs won’t look like much when lost in the midnight blackness.  If you own a car that has a classy, eccentric, or otherwise impressive design that is difficult to notice after dark, a few strategic lighting upgrades can fix the problem and make your car a stunner any time of day.

For starters, you’ll want to begin with the car’s headlights.  Most cars are outfitted with basic halogen headlights by their manufacturers, and it has been this way for quite some time.  While halogens don’t necessarily detracts from the cars they’re installed in, they also don’t add any exceptional features either.  HID lights, on the other hand, are far more impressive when used as headlights.  You can customize HIDs by color, so you can pick a color that complements the current look of your car, or perhaps even go for something bold and exotic that no one would expect.  And custom colorization isn’t the only thing HIDs have to offer.  On top of that, you get headlights that are up to 3x as bright as halogens, meaning you’ll get better light coverage for your vehicle in the dark.

Moving backwards from the headlights, let’s talk about other lighting components you can use to freshen up your car’s looks.  Undercar lighting is perfect for outlining the car and highlighting its frame, and though its legality varies from region to region, when possible to use this can really make a vehicle pop in the dark.  Typically, undercar LED neons are used, which provide for an ultramodern appearance.  Bright and colorful interior lights can also create a unique look, but be careful, as using these can diminish your vision of the road and your immediate surroundings.

At the back end of the car, you also have tail lights to consider.  LED tail lights are becoming immensely more popular, as they are bold, vivid, and hard not to notice.  The piercing red light produced by LED tails has made them a popular choice for tail light conversion, and therefore using them provides you with an excellent way to improve your car’s after-dark appearance, even if the focus is on your car’s rear end.
